Christmas. For many of us, the word evokes the warmest of memories. Family gathered around a crackling fireplace, the sparkling Christmas tree, piles of presents, egg nog and cookies, the sweet sound of Christmas carols, the merriment of laughter. At Christmastime we feel abundantly blessed.
Saving Susan Ministry’s driving force is the Parent Partner Program. This program is where we dedicate most of our time and efforts, as it is the program that most directly impacts and serves the orphans we work with every day.
It was my third day at my new job with Saving Susan Ministry. I was still learning so much about this nonprofit I now worked for. As I flipped through the binder of all the children in our program I noticed they were all young except for one boy who was 17.
For the past two years, Saving Susan Ministry has provided 125 musical instruments, as well as, countless hours of music instruction in both Guatemala and Cambodia.
We are waiting in the Phnom Penh airport for our departing flight from Cambodia as this is being written.
Our time was devoted to the orphans of Bileg all day Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday morning we had an encouraging word from David Delk, who reminded us that in the eyes of God, while we haven’t CAUSED the problems of the world we are responsible for ADDRESSING the problems of the world.
We are happy to report that God has been at work in mighty ways in our first three days in country! This is a brief synopsis of what we’ve been able to be a part of so far.
I had the privilege of traveling to House of Hope Zacapa in Guatemala this past April with Saving Susan Ministry and NorthStar Church.

Saving Susan Ministry exists because God gave our Founder, Jay a plan through heartbreak
after meeting Vichika, aka Susan.
Education is one of the most important programs to help us achieve our Mission to “Connect orphans in third world countries with loving Christian families through relational support to reverse the effects of orphan abandonment”.
